Hawthorne House in Hastings was awarded second place in the Best Bed and Breakfast/Inn, South Pacific category in the 2013 TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards.
Located on Railway Road just 5 minutes from Hastings and Havelock North, Hawthorne House is a luxuriously appointed Edwardian Villa and is the only Hawke's Bay property to feature as a top 25 finalist in the category.
Mike Lewis, Owner and Operator of Hawthorne House said he was over the moon to receive such a coveted honour. "TripAdvisor is where everyone goes to find information before they travel so to win second place in their Travellers Choice awards is fantastic. We pride ourselves on delivering great service and showcasing amazing Hawke's Bay produce – either home-grown or locally made. We're thrilled and honoured that so many of our guests have taken the time to post positive reviews online. The fact that this is an award based on true guest experiences means so much more. "
Annie Dundas, General Manager Hawke's Bay Tourism said TripAdvisor is an essential marketing tool for all tourism businesses and these awards are a great example of how beneficial it is to be listed on TripAdvisor and encourage visitors to post feedback about great service.
In its 11th year, the awards identified the most outstanding properties worldwide, in the categories of Top Hotels, Luxury, Bargain, Service, Small Hotels, and B&Bs and Inns.
Representing its biggest-ever Travellers' Choice campaign, TripAdvisor named more than 6,000 award-winning properties around the world this year, with dedicated lists now covering 82 countries and nine regions worldwide. Unlike any other hotel honours, TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice winners are based on millions of valuable reviews and opinions covering more than 650,000 hotels and collected in a single year from travellers around the world.
"Once again, TripAdvisor is thrilled to recognize the finest accommodations based on the feedback from those who really matter: their guests," said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor. "It's the insights from millions of travellers that make these awards so special, as they help others discover the hotels travellers love most - whatever the budget, in all corners of the world."
