Would-be brides, mothers and the odd groom-to-be are promised a full and entertaining programme of wedding-related demonstrations, shows and a plethora of information all brought together in one stunning location looking out over Queenstown and surrounding mountains.
Organiser and Skyline Conference and Events Manager, Jo Brown, said the show promised to be a major drawcard for anyone considering Queenstown or the surrounding region as a wedding destination.
The Southern Lakes Wedding Show at Skyline will be held between 10.30am to 3pm on Saturday May 11.
"The dates are just perfect because it coincides with Mother's Day on the Sunday, so it makes it a terrific reason for brides, their mothers, aunties, cousins or friends to book a weekend in Queenstown," said Ms Brown.
"I'd encourage everyone to put the dates in the diary now for a beautiful and inspiring day at Skyline and the chance to visit some of the exhibitors on-site the following day."
Ms Brown said interest had already been expressed by a wide range of Queenstown-Lakes businesses and suppliers such as celebrants, spas, hair and makeup designers, dressmakers, photographers, cake makers, designers, entertainers and event managers.
She said Skyline was well aware that the wedding show might not hold great attraction for grooms.
"That's why we've decided to create a 'Man-Zone' for the better halves, a fun 'get-away-from-it-all' area with Playstations, a BBQ, Speights on tap (with the first drink free), men's magazines and sports TV. They can also, of course, head on up to the Skyline Luge to get the adrenaline going," she said.
Thirty-four exhibition booths are available and exhibitors are encouraged to register now for the event. The Southern Lakes Wedding Show will be a wedding show with a view, with exhibition spaces offered throughout the building and on the viewing deck.
The beautiful Wakatipu Room will also be available for fashion displays and hair and makeup demonstrations, and wedding cars will even have pride of place at the base of the gondola. For lucky visitors there will also be giveaway wedding treats and vouchers.
"This is the first of what will be a sensational annual event for Queenstown," said Ms Brown. "So many couples choose Queenstown as the destination for their very special occasion because it is a four-season resort with accommodation to suit all budgets, and the very best range of suppliers and providers to suit all levels of nuptials.
"The show will help put Queenstown even more on the map when it comes to saying 'I do'".
